TIPS & SECRETS FROM A NEW YORK CITY PROPOSAL, WEDDING & EVENT PLANNER

Hydrangea Table Runner

Take a table runner, mix it with a hydrangea centerpiece and you get this spectacular idea.  Clean and simple but has a huge visual impact without obstructing the view across the table.  Genius!

Chair Choice Matters

The color of your chairs may be the last thing you are thinking about when deciding on the color palette of your reception, but your chairs can make (or break) your entire look.

In the examples below, you can see that choosing a fruitwood chair for this ceremony creates such a different look than the standard white chair. A red or turquoise chair coupled with a simple tablescape make a strong and immediate impact. Whether it’s selecting the right contrasting chair pad, a neutral wood over a standard white, or accenting the overall look with a specialty colored chair, chair selection makes a huge statement in your event decor.

Late Night Snacks

Late-night snacks are the perfect way to treat your guests after a long night of dancing! They can be a sweet nightcap like churros, or milk and cookies – a crunchy antidote to all the alcohol. Or, send them home with coffee and donuts for breakfast the next morning. Prefer something savory? How about mini grilled-cheese sandwiches with tomato soup shooters, bagels and cream cheese or a hot dog cart with all the fixings!

Chair Ties Done Right

I’ll admit it: I’m not a huge fan of chair ties. They seem to lend a scary 1980s look to event the most posh events (sort of like these napkin folds).  They also create a lot of visual noise without adding much interest. But, here are chair ties done right – vertically! Get creative and use pashminas that double as a guest favor, fabric swatches to pop against your table linens, or long silk scarves.

Printed to Perfection

Specialty table linens are a sure-fire way to create a truly unique look for an event, it’s the best and easiest way to remove the word “generic” from your guests’ vocabulary completely.  We’re big believers in table linens in general, and having a printed linen makes the visual impact even more of a statement.

Candy Bar Alternative

Don’t get us wrong, we love a good candy display at any event.  But, we also love the colors and creativity of this Old Fashioned Soda Bar that our friends at Project Wedding came up with! The color and unique design of each bottle really makes for a real eye-catcher and will transport your guests back to when they were kids. Perfect for a large event like a wedding to a smaller, more intimate baby or bridal shower!

We think this would be an amazing idea for escort cards! What guest wouldn’t want to sit at the Orange Crush table or the Dad’s Cream Soda table?

Dream Dessert on a Stick

Cheesecake lollipops are the latest trend in decadent desserts.  They’re a great addition to a “dessert tapas” table for large-scale events, or as finger food for a baby or bridal shower.  For those DIY hosts out there, click on the photo for the step-by-step instructions on how to make your own cheesecake lollipops.  Feast your eyes on these!

A Perfect Spring Luncheon

Last week I was lucky enough to be a guest at the FaceTime Beauty Concierge ladies’ luncheon! We feasted on amazing food by Cobblestone Catering, enjoyed the vintage inspired music of Loukoum from Elan Artists and enjoyed the company of our beautiful hostess, Linsey Snyder Wachalter of FaceTime Beauty Concierge as well as many other creative industry friends.

Isn’t this just the perfect setting? The flowers (especially the spectacular purple vanda orchids) are perfect for any garden party, baby shower or bridal shower, and were created by Caroline of L’Atelier Rouge.  The picture-perfect stationery was a custom design by the wonderful Bridget from B-Dub Productions.  Thanks to Mel Barlow for capturing the day!

PlaceCard Holders Get Glam

The creative ladies at 100 Layer Cake have really outdone themselves with using vintage earrings as placecard stands.  If my name were Theodore, Camille or Madeline, I’d feel very lucky to sit here.  What a glam way to bring in a little mix-and-match sparkle to any tables – bridal shower, baby shower, wedding or dinner party!

More Non-Floral Centerpieces

Here are some more non-floral centerpieces for the hosts that want a show-stopping centerpiece without flowers!  The button jars really lend a vintage-y detailed look – perfect for a casual affair like a baby shower or bridal shower.  The book centerpieces are more old-world and lend themselves more toward a semi-formal event such as a cocktail reception or networking event.
