TIPS & SECRETS FROM A NEW YORK CITY PROPOSAL, WEDDING & EVENT PLANNER

Mixed Bridesmaid Bouquets

The bridesmaids from Georgia and Chris’ Wedding inspired us! Each bridesmaid had their very own bouquet, which spoke to the individuality of each girl. This is definitely a do!

Coaster-Inspired Wedding

I came across this beautiful coaster by Nectar Ale at a local pub and loved the color palette so much that had to create an inspiration board for it!  Just goes to show that your event inspiration can come from anywhere.

Tool for DIY Designers

While searching for the perfect napkins for a client, I stumbled across this fun tool from BBJ Linens called the “Design Your Event Table” virtual tool.  It allows you to test out different tablecloths, napkins, chair types and chair accessories for your table design!

Perfect for those doing DIY design for their event  and you just can’t decide on the pink tablecloth with the green napkins or the green tablecloth with the pink napkins.  Now, if they could just expand it to include flowers, chargers, silverware, glassware and menus!

Inspiration Board: Kyla & Jordan's Chic Wedding

This lovely couple is planning a gorgeous wedding this fall in New York City at Le Parker Meridien. The color palette is a progression of pure white for the ceremony to an ice blue for the cocktail hour and a bold navy/midnight blue for the reception accented with metallic touches. We’re focusing on texture and color saturations to make things really stand out. Enjoy!

Inspiration Board: White on White

We created this beautiful white-on-white inspiration board with the following elements in mind:  texture, warm lighting and keeping things friendly and inviting.  So often an all-white color palette can end up looking sterile and bland.  But, by ensuring that we included those 3 elements and adding color with the food and drink, the result is anything but boring!

A Brilliant Event: Havana Nights

We designed a festive holiday party for Reval, a financial software company here in New York, where a ”Havana Nights” Cuban theme spiced up the frosty December evening.

Guests arrived at the Harbor Room of Battery Gardens Restaurant and were greeted by butler-passed mojitos and festive music by DJ Medina, Manhattan’s hottest latin music DJ.  The room was illuminated with vibrant pinks and greens thanks to Prestige Lighting and tables boasted centerpieces of tall cylinder vases filled with limes and monstera leaves.

Bright pink table runners combined with lime napkins from Cloth Connection created a sizzling contrast to the centerpieces and a perfect replica of a 1950s Cadillac was made by TracyCakes for all to enjoy.  La Rosa Cubana provided hand-rolled cigars throughout the evening while guests dined on traditional Cuban fare. After dinner all were entertained by Fuákata, a Cuban Salsa-Casino dance performance group directed by Christopher Rogicki.

Immediately following the performance, guests were invited to learn salsa from the experts with a mini dance lesson and put their new-found skills to the test the rest of the evening!  At the end of the evening, each guest was given a Cuban music CD so they could continue their salsa dancing at home!

Inspiration Board: Mike and Katrina (Part 3 of 5)

Here’s some more ideas from Mike and Katrina’s ceremony inspiration board!  We were lucky enough to confirm the amazingly talented banjo player, Steve Srubas, and his band to entertain guests during the cocktail hour.  What a perfect addition to this “fancy family picnic” wedding!

Mike & Katrina Ceremony

Inspiration Board: Mike & Katrina (Part 1 of 4)

You may remember Mike and Katrina from a few posts back.  When I spoke to Katrina, her vision for their wedding was “a fancy family picnic.”  This week I’ll be sharing the inspiration boards that I created for this wonderful couple for the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Up first is the rehearsal dinner.  In addition to the pictures here, we also have a hay ride by a local farmer and a bonfire with s’mores planned!
